MSC Magnifica interiours

Or the fish in the restaurant aboard MSC Magnifica is fresh? Well, shown above, the answer is yes. Just caught in the ships Atium at the La Gocche Bar.

The atrium aboard MSC Magnifica, shown above, is the central hub on the ship, connecting Sorrento Deck (5), Portofino Deck (6) and Amalfi Deck (7). On the lowest level, the La Gocche Bar is situated, where the pianmo is sometimes played for the right moods. Also the reception desk is here. One deck higher, several boutiques are located overlooking the bar and pianobar, just as the MSC Travel Agency, which is mostly a place where you can book future cruises on one of the computers that are connected to the webpage of MSC Cruises. On Amalfi Deck, the atrium is overlooked by the cyber café and the Cuba Lounge Cigar Room has also its entrance here. Although the ship measures some 90.000 tons, the atrium still looks intimate and is done in soft red-orange colouring with lots of greens and split gold and white staircases.

Sadly, because the ships discoteque, named after her yardnumber T32, is mostly done in black, silver and white, the picture above is a little too dark to give a good view of the space, located at one of the highest decks, Positano (14). The room, with a mirrored ceiling, overlooks the ships stern and also has a little outdoor space for the ones needing fresh air.

This marvellous stairway connects the Atlantic City Casino at Amalfi Deck (7), which is above, to the Tiger Bar at Portofino Deck (6), which is, you'd guess, below. It definately gives someone a spectacluar entrance to the Tiger Bar. The stairs are topped by a grand mirror and the steps are lit, reflected in the handrails. It sure is one of the most splendid places on the ship.

A detail of the Tiger Bar is shown below, a bar that is totally dedicated to this large striped feline. The chairs and couches all have tiger prints, bamboo is placed for the right effect and on the walls, murals are painted with of course tigers. The Tiger Bar also has a small bandstand and dancefloor and is one of the main lounges aboard the MSC Magnifica. Many bars do have African themes aboard, as you can also see further down this page.

An overview of the Tiger Bar is shown below.

The two other main lounges aboard the ship are named Topazio Bar, just located between the Tiger Bar and the ships Atrium at Portofino Deck (6), and then there is the L'Ametista Lounge, one deck higher at Amalfi Deck. Here, this lounge overlooks the ships wake with large, glass windows. In the center of this lounge, there is another place where live music is played throughout the night.

One of the most splendid rooms aboard MSC Magnifica is certainly the Royal Theatre, which is spread out over three decks (Sorrento Deck (5), Portofino Deck (6) and Amalfi Deck (7). The rooms seats 1200 passengers and is one of the largest theaters afloat. It is a very bright space, totally unobstructed for great views from every seat. A lot of light ornaments create a magical vibe.

Below, the ships 4D-cinema is shown. It is rather small, seating just 8 people, but it gives a thrilling experience. As you can see in those yellow space-age chairs below, you truly 'live' the movie and do not expect that those movies are nature-documentaries.

Of course, you can also get something to eat aboard, as we saw the guy fishing in the Atrium on the first picture. By the way, he was just cleaning the water... But actually, almost everything you eat aboard the MSC Magnifica is freshly made in the ships kitchens and bakery. I once ate a small piece of bread on another ship of another line (don't tell which one) and I almost broke my tooth. Aboard MSC Magnifica, the taste was really good. Bread, pasta, salads or pizza, everything just tastes fresh and it is. On the pictures below, some of the ships restaurants are shown. Firstly, there is L'Oasi a-la-carte restaurant at Porto Cervo Deck (13). Again, inspired by Africa and a large space with a palm-court as the centerpiece.

One of the two main restaurants is L'Edera, which is shown below, located on Sorrento Deck (5). It is not just one big room, but actually several spaller spaces so you have a little bit of intimacy. As stated by the marketing-manager of MSC in The Netherlands, who had his lunch at our table, people on cruiseships always want to eat at tables for two, whioch are not there at the ship. But when you sit at a larger table, something we could immidiately agree with, you get in touch with others and sometimes good friendships can start during cruises. At MSC, you have always the same table and the same waiter and they will really start to know you in a few days.

There of course also is a buffet restaurant, located at Port Cervo Deck (13). It is again, at least in name, inspired by Africa as it is called Sahara Cafeteria. It is located between the L'Oasi Restaurant and the Grotta Azzurra Pool...

Hey, did you say 'pool'? Yes, untill now you have seen only inside spaces, but of course there are also outdoor spaces, like the Grotta Azzurra Pool, shown below. Well, outside, it can be roofed by a retractable glass ceiling, as is now so familiar aboard large liners. So swimming in several weather conditions is possible. MSC Magnifica is the only ship in the class which has a pool like this, though, as she is sailing mostly cruises in northern Europe in summer, where the other ships are sailing more tropical destinations. Like today, we understand because the weather now is horrible...

The true outdoor pool on the ship is named Le Grand Bleu, today just mostly grey and deserted, but mostly one of the most vivid placed aboard the ship. This can not be roofed and is always open to the skies.
