Serenissima Cruises

At the 4th of april 2012, a company named Volga Cruises aquired the laid-up oldie cruiseliner Andrea, after the owner of the company had learned about the ship at the CaptainsVoyage Forum. The ship was a former Hurtig Ruten liner, built in 1959, and after purchase, the ship underwent a complete restoration in Split, Croatia, where she had been in lay-up since 2009. Volga Cruises at the time was sailing with a rivercruise ship named Volga Dream for Russian rivercruises.

The restoration of the Andrea caused a massive interest for the old liner from several countries and at the 3rd of april of 2013, the refreshed ship, now under the name of Serenissima, sailed her first trials in the Adriatic Sea. She came into the port of Split one day later, and again one day after that, at the 5th of april 2013, the ship sailed on her maiden voyage in the Mediterranean Sea. For her, Volga Cruises had started another company under the name of Serenissima Cruises. Since her renewed debut, the ship mostly sails cruises in northern Europe and the Mediterranean. Since 2016, the Serenissima is operated by Noble Caledonia and as the website of Serenissima Cruises is closed down in seems that company is out of service. Luckily, the ship has a long intensive program of cruises available through Noble Caledonia well into 2019.
